Tackling severe anxiety and OCD with Zach Westerbeck

With a pounding heart, drying mouth, sweating palms and racing thoughts, there was a time in our guest’s life in which, from the moment he woke up, till' the time went to sleep, all he could think about was committing suicide. While having no idea as to why he was experiencing all of this, and with no sense of control over his thoughts, he decided to get his affairs in order and call his parents “for one last time”. This phone call turned out to be a life-saving moment, which soon brought him to an unexpected diagnosis. He is now a mental health advocate, author and speaker, and he shares with us what this situation meant to him and how we can recover from some common mental health issues. This is my conversation with Zach Westerbeck.

Zach is a Mental Health advocate, National speaker, College Success Coach, and author of "You're Not Alone", who was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder in 2016. During that time he experienced severe anxiety, deep depression and thoughts of suicide. After hitting his rock bottom moment, he sought help and started to recover. Through his recovery process he became Mental Health First Aid certified and now travels the country educating thousands of students on the fundamentals of mental health.
